Rhabdomyosarcoma
Rhabdomyosarcoma, or RMS for short, is an aggressive soft tissue cancer most commonly found in children. The two primary types are Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS) with approximately 70% of cases, and Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS ) with approximately 30% of cases.
RMS accounts for about 3% of all Childhood Cancers with 350-400 cases diagnosed in the United States each year.
As with all Childhood Cancers, research for Rhabdomyosarcoma is inadequate, and treatment often involves drugs approved over 50 years ago.
